Name: Sharyn Munro
Artist's statement: I am interested in place-based writing, and in making nature writing and environmental issues accessible to a wider readership by way of a personal form of nonfiction that uses selective memoir and a conversational tone to engage, amuse and inform. My books, 'The Woman on the Mountain', Exisle 2007, and 'Mountain Tails', Exisle 2009, employ this. I am fascinated by all creatures – human or otherwise – and find significance, and thus stories, in the most ordinary of things. All writing – even ads or corporate newsletters – is practicing my craft.
Medium: Fiction, literary non-fiction
Current projects: Research for 3rd book,' The Woman on the Road' (tentative title) about being in other wild edge places than my mountain; plus a collection of short stories, 'Peeping through my fingers'; plus rewriting (endlessly) my novel – and always looking for interesting owner-built homes to write articles about.
